Sheets! I’m ironing sheets!!!! It’s too cold and wet for them to dry, we only have one set for the kids so here I am supervising homework and IRONING SHEETS. Can you tell this is a first for me?
It all has to be recorded, the good, bad and now ironed sheets!!
At least you have an iron! Daughter’s pleated school skirt is looking a little less than pleated at the moment. Me thinks a purchase is in order! To think I went the past 15 years in Australia not needing an iron and here I am in Turkey purchasing one!
I miss dry cleaning.
Ahh the changes we forgot to think about!
Bring me up to date here please! While ironing sheets is foul (I never iron the fitted ones) how does one get by without ironing, or not having an iron? Don’t clothes/sheets etc in Australia require ironing? Do they iron themselves? Surely you dpn’t dry clean everything…?
while I am one of the very few people I know who does actually iron clothes in Australia and the US I have never ironed sheets before. I leave that to the wind and my clothes line! Having said that, when the boys hopped into bed the night of sheet ironing Alex did snuggle down deeper and say ‘Ohh these feel really good, you should iron them again!!!’ Surely I have better things to do than iron sheets?
Also note I only dry clean if I really, really need too 🙂
Wow, yes, I don’t fully expect to start ironing sheets any time soon…
Haha, you are doing a good job! 🙂
well at least its sheets and not underwear 😉
You have a good point!
Not a very glamorous job, is it? I iron pillowcases, but only because I like how they feel. Never sheets! Your boys are lucky to have a Mom who would do all that extra work for them!
Well it was iron them or make them sleep in damp sheets! When there is no wind and it is cold NOTHING dries!!! I had them on the line all day :0)
Hopefully the weather cooperates for you and you won’t have to do that job again! 🙂
Damn! I will kiss my clothes dryer when I get current load out! K

Yeah a big kiss!!! 😉
Your grandmother always ironed her sheets! Must be in your blood! X
Really? That’s crazy! Why didn’t you? 🙂
Ick, I hate to iron! I just make sure I get the clothes out of the dryer and hang them up right away. A few wrinkles won’t hurt anyone! I’d probably just sleep on wet sheets. 😉
Wish me luck… I’m going to attempt to make ribollita for dinner tonight. I’m sure it won’t be authentic, but hopefully it will taste good!
Ok so how did the ribollita go?? I’m sure it was delicious 🙂

It was good!!! Wes was skeptical because he had requested vegetable soup and it wasn’t quite was he was thinking, but he had to admit that it hit the spot on a cold night. It was pretty easy, too- sauteed carrots, onions, garlic, and pancetta. Added tomato paste, canned diced tomatoes, spinach, canneloni beans, chicken stock, seasoning, bay leaf, parmesan rind. Served it over toasted ciabatta bread with fresh parmesan (still not as good as parmesan in Italy). Kids wouldn’t touch it, but we had leftover homemade mac & cheese, so they were happy. Definitely will make it again!
That is great to hear and sounds delicious!! The kids don’t know what they are missing out on ( mine still won’t it it because if the way it looks!)
Ugh….I totally dislike the idea of this! I bought these great high count cotton sheets and the top hem gets all crinkly in the dryer….so I feel the need to iron JUST THAT PART so they lay flat…I think irons are barbaric! (the truth is I iron all my linen dish towels too!)
Linen dish towels!!? Oh Susie you are good 😉

I hate ironing. I wash dry and fold or hang everything. My man is Ironing man; he likes to iron his shirts and being ex-military, takes to it quite naturally. However, I think BI it is time to invest in some spare sheets; pop down to the market.
I think you might be right June!
I hate ironing too 🙂 I usually iron everything if we go on holiday, at like 40 degrees Celsius, which is kind of stupid, because by the time we get there they get all crinkled up in the suitcases. Maybe you should get another set of sheets for the kids, this way if you wash one and it is drying, you have another one to use, and you don’t need to iron 🙂
never ever done this but cousin Barb does. Always.
Ironing sucks! You may want to revisit that market you went to and get a few spare sets to avoid this in the future! 😉
